Why Anchors?

People often ask me what the deal is with me & anchors. I've always loved the water- the lake, the ocean, boats & all things nautical. So when I found this quote, I was a little obsessed-
"a ship in the harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for."

To me it screams of fearless adventure- you can't get anywhere by staying still. But in all my passion for living, I often forget to stop and think about Who I'm living for. I just want to experience everything life has to offer, all at once. I think that's why I hold so tightly to Hebrews 6:18-19 that says,
"we who have fled to take hold of the Hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this Hope as an anchor for the soul, firm & secure."

Christ is an anchor for my soul, not to hold me back, but to hold me to Himself. And that He does, time & time again. Ultimately, He is the only hope we have. There are many, many good things on this earth, and I want to experience them. But believe me, I want to do it anchored in the love of Christ, and knowing that He, as my hope, never waivers.
